Singer & Band Biography
The Soulful R&B Groove
Our singer and performer, Jonathan Garris, was born on March 28, 1971, in New Jersey. At age five, Jonathan started singing for his school choir, and by age twelve, he sang with Lou Rawls during the Telethon. It was at this time that Jonathan realized he wanted to sing; he therefore began vocal training with Ted James, a renowned singer.
Jonathan sang and recorded the song, "Gotta Be Me,” with Steve Cova, and the song turned into a platinum hit overseas. Further, Jonathan’s voice has been featured in Europe and Japan, singing with different groups. Once back in the United States, Jonathan sang with many bands in New Jersey, including Anonymous, Unfinished Bunisezz, Legendary Escorts, Big Bruce and the Messengers, just to name a few.
Now, Jonathan’s goal is to showcase Tucson’s musical talent through his platform and band.
